It is the
third largest city of Lithuania, at the
confluence of the Curonian Lagoon and the
Baltic sea, an important ice-free sea port.
Klaipeda’s old town is different from all
the other largest cities’ being so compact,
with so regular street net system that has
remained from the times of German Order with
the old architecture so typical to German
cities with still standing remains of the
defense fortifications of the XVII—XVIII
centuries. The Old Town of Klaipeda is the
ferry port, the Drama Theatre a
nd
Theatre square, the Exhibition Palace, the
Castle Museum, the Clock Museum, the
Evangelical-Lutheron prayer house,
Blacksmith museums, the Market square, the
museum of History of the Little Lithuania.
